The Institute of Materials Science and Technology (INTEMA, http://intema.gob.ar/) is formed by twelve research departments that gather more than 110 researchers, 70 phd and postdoctoral students and more than 50 people working as support staff. These divisions carry out research, teaching, extension and transfer activities in the field of materials science.

The Optical Research Center (CIOp, https://ciop.conicet.gov.ar/) was founded in 1977 and it is a research institute devote to conduct investigations within the optics and photonics field. The main research lines are Atomic Spectroscopy, Laser Ablation, Integrated Photonics, Plasmonics, Biological and Medical Applications of Dynamic Spleckle, Optical Encryption, Fiber Optics Technology, Laser Spectroscopy, Photo-chemistry, Heritage Laser Conservation, Optical Sensing, Light Propagation in Turbulent media and Free Propagation of Special Beams, among others.
